Give Your Dog a Tail-Wagging Experience with the 5 Best Dog Groomers in Auckland
Who doesn’t want a well-groomed dog? A dog so well-groomed that it catches the attention of dog lovers during a wedding ceremony, brushing off the groom himself. A dog that is more irresistible than a newly-cooked hot dog.
Okay, enough with the puns. Now, let me tell you a story. I always want the best for my furry baby. With that in mind, I visited, interviewed, and meticulously evaluated dog groomers in Auckland to give my baby the glow-up he deserves.
After my tiring but reliable process, I share with you these must-go-to dog groomers in town that truly deliver (so that you know where to put your precious money and baby).
How much does a full dog grooming cost in Auckland?
1. Mollies Pet Salon
I know my baby is safe in Mollies Pet Salon because Rebecca, the owner and one of the groomers, studied professional dog grooming. She also owns a dog, Mollie, on which the business name is based, so she’s completely knowledgeable about how to take care of dogs.
Rebecca and her staff can groom dogs of all sizes and breeds, from tiny to huge fellas. During my visit, I was amazed at how they made dogs look so clean and lovely, all that for a reasonable cost.
What I love most though is their selection of grooming products that fur parents can purchase. They partnered with an Auckland-based company that sells luxurious dog grooming products, like shampoos, conditioners, and colognes. I even ended up buying some for my baby!
The only disadvantage of Mollies Pet Salon to other groomers is their short operating hours. They are only open for 6 hours a day, which is a lot shorter than other groomers.
Always puts in the extra effort
“Rebecca at Mollie’s does an amazing job with our labradoodle. She always puts in the extra effort to make him look handsome and takes the time so that he’s not overwhelmed. Even if he’s knotty, she takes the time to work that through, rather than just cutting it short. Would recommend!”

Always does an amazing job
“Rebecca has always done an amazing job with our dog. We’ve tried multiple other places previously but Mollies Pet Salon is infinitely better than anywhere else we’ve tried. She turns my ~40kg hairy maclary into a slinky malinki. We are usually able to book in pretty quickly.”

2. Fur-B-Luscious Dog Salon
What I admire most about the Fur-B-Luscious Dog Salon staff is their genuine passion for making every dog feel loved and cared for, which I observed during my visit. They treat dogs as guests by giving them treats and making sure they have a relaxing environment.
Another good thing about them is their easy-to-find location. They are along the road, so you can quickly see them when driving. You won’t have a hard time finding them on your first-ever appointment.
What makes them stand out over many dog groomers in town is their regular grooming package. They offer a lower rate for a weekly or fortnightly grooming session for your fur baby.
The only downside is their inconsistent waiting time. One of their customers said she waited for more than half an hour instead of just 15 minutes, as they promised.
Team of amazing people
“Sam and the team are amazing people, not just amazing groomers. My husband and I have been taking our Cavachon to Fur-B-Lucious for over 2 years and we’ve all become family. That’s always the vibe you want when you trust someone with your fur babies. Our girl Charlotte is admittedly a handful to say the least, but they have always had the skills and ability to groom her according to her breed and our requests. I’m pretty sure this breed and similar are their specialty but every breed I’ve seen come from there looks runway ready when leaving. I’ve lived in Auckland for over four years now and can honestly say Sam and the team are now not just Charlotte’s glam squad but also some of her biggest fans and a huge part of our lives. Any breed… please take your fur baby to Fur-B-Lucious because you’ll never be disappointed. Keep up the spectacular work y’all!!!”

Made my dog happy
“What an amazing experience. I dropped Molly off to Belle this morning for a tidy up before wifey got home and returned a couple of hours later to not only a beautiful smelling fluffy dog, but also an amazingly happy hound as well. Molly was smiling (do dogs smile?) as much as if I had jingled her leash. The salon is set up like a people hair salon but for dogs, and the dogs seem as happy to go there as much as ladies enjoy getting their hair done for 4hours (???). Belle was not only professional but also passionate about her work and very proud of the salon, which she absolutely should be. 5 stars.”

3. Boutique Dog Grooming
The best thing about Boutique Dog Grooming is that they accept dogs with special grooming needs. They are the only groomer who does this out of the groomers on my list. So, if you’re struggling to find a groomer for your baby with special grooming needs, here it is.
Another great thing about them is their way of handling nervous and anxious dogs during the grooming process. I personally saw how one of their groomers calmed down a distressed Great Dane that keeps on barking before he proceeded.
My only gripe is they’re a bit pricey compared to other groomers on the list. But they guarantee to offer outstanding service your baby deserves.
They did an amazing job
“I didn’t really know what to expect taking my very shaggy and matty 10 month old border collie for a groom yesterday. I just about cried when I picked him up – he was soooooooo beautiful. The team explained what the grooming would include and he was cleaned, brushed, “tidied” and clipped and just looked amazing. When we got home the whole family just said “wow”. I will definitely be coming back, just so happy and thankful for the wonderful team at Boutique Dog Grooming for doing such am amazing job, I will be highly recommending.”

It’s a crime to not recommend them
“Highly recommend, I have been with the same groomer for many years, and I think they may have changed owner and staff, so I was out looking for another groomer for my Corgi. And Boutique Dog Groom was the best groom iv ever seen on my corgi. They listened to exactly what I wanted and were super friendly. Will be back again ❤🐶”

4. Abbot Dog Grooming
I believe that longevity in any industry makes a business perfect—that’s the case for Abbot Dog Grooming.
They deserve a spot on my list because they offer a wide variety of tidy short styles with customised features upon request. Some styles are crew cut, buzz cut, and neat pompadour, all of which can be done with your special wants.
Another good thing about them is their wide parking space. If I ever bring my baby here again, I know I won’t get frustrated about where and when I can park my car.
Their only weak point is that they don’t groom large-sized dogs. Fortunately, my baby is a medium-sized dog, so I can give them a try anytime I want.
Very professional groomers
“Our small Poodle-cross dog, Wookie, has been coming to see Craig for a few years now and I highly recommend Craig and his team. In the past, previous groomers have cut Wookie or have given poor grooms. Craig is calm, very professional and Wookie always looks great. I feel very comfortable leaving our dog with Craig to get groomed and I would encourage you to try Abbot Dog Grooming.”

Our dog grows with Abbot
“We have been visiting Craig at Abbot Dog Grooming for a few years now. Our beautiful fur baby Stevie has been going since she was a pup and is nearly 8 years old. We trust him. From the first teddy bear cut to the more grown up classic schnauzer cut, (with a fluffy tail), he always listens and does an amazing job. Although she is a bit of a princess when it comes to drop off, Craig always makes us feel reassured and confident in his abilities and skills. She comes out looking a million dollars every time.”

5. Paw Hub Pet Grooming
What I really love about Paw Hub is how easy they make it for customers to access their services. You can easily book an appointment online. They also show their complete list of services along with all the inclusions, making it easy for customers to choose the right service.
The level of care they provide is also impressive. All their Paw Hub Groomers (that’s what they call themselves) are required to complete a Pet First Aid Course and a refresher every two years. This ensures that the dogs are in capable hands, giving fur parents peace of mind.
I also really appreciate that they’re open six days a week. Yes, they’re only closed on Sundays. This makes it easy for parents with busy schedules to find a day that works for them.
The only downside is that you might see them closed earlier than expected during one of those six days.
Friendly and professional
“Had my two dogs and two cats at Pawhub over the years and although none of them love it obviously, they have always come out looking and smelling great. Jess who was half Samoyed/tibetian terrier always had the undercoat brushed out so she kept her long fur but so much lighter for her and so much nicer than being shaved. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The team are always friendly and would do what I asked in a professional manner.”

Greatest first time ever
“My puppy Maggie went in for her first grooming experience today, and I could not be more pleased. It’s quite stressful leaving a four month pup behind not knowing how she would go. I could tell that Yana was kind and patient with her and Maggie was relaxed and happy when I picked her up .. didn’t really seem like she wanted to leave!! Highly recommend and I look forward to the next visit. Thank you so much for your care. 😊”
