Pros
- Offers one of the widest variety of gift baskets in Auckland
- Specialises in custom baskets using reusable and sustainable materials
Cons
- High surcharge on Saturday deliveries
- No express deliveries to rural areas
One of my go-to shops for gift baskets in Auckland is My Goodness Gift Baskets. The store has one of the widest varieties of basket offerings I’ve found, so when I think about getting someone a gift basket or hamper, I turn to this store first.
I support this store because they specialise in sustainable, eco-friendly baskets with locally sourced or organic contents, packaged in reusable containers.
My favourite is the Box of Plenty, costing about $150. It includes chocolate bars, lollies, fudge, cheese sticks, juice, gingers, relish, nuts, and biscuits, all beautifully wrapped with a bow.
For its price, I think it’s worth it, considering the amount of goodies you’ll get in a single order. I recommend ordering one for delivery on weekdays, though, because the surcharge on Saturday deliveries will rack up your bill.
Also, they don’t do express deliveries to rural areas, so make sure to order ahead!

Pros
- Best for luxury gift baskets
- Offers free delivery for orders above $150
Cons
- Early cut-off for orders
- Pricey baskets
Many of my friends prefer food gift baskets, so I turn to Batenburgs for gourmet options. Their luxury baskets range from $115 to $499 and are filled with items like champagne, chocolate bars, peanut slabs, wafers, olives, smoked peppers, cheese, and meats.
You also have the option to customise your basket according to dietary requirements with dairy-free or alcohol-free options. Affordable baskets below $100 are also available, but the store gives free chocolates for orders above $85, so why not splurge a little?
Plus, if your order goes above $150 at checkout, you get free delivery nationwide. It’s pretty much a steal considering that their baskets are pricey.
If you’re ordering a basket for a special occasion like Mother’s Day or Christmas, do note that they have early cut-offs for such events. Consider ordering a basket at least a week or two in advance.

Pros
- Best for new baby gift baskets
- Affordable gift baskets
Cons
- Usually sold out
- Limited goodies selection
The Good Box Gift Co is one of my favourite stores to get gift baskets for friends who have just given birth or are welcoming a new baby. Their Baby Gift Boxes contain soft and baby-safe muslin blankets, plushies, teethers, toys and more.
If I’m not in a hurry, I like to use the store’s Build-Your-Own option. I once ordered one for my brother’s wife when she gave birth in the hospital, and The Good Box Gift Co. staff were very helpful.
They had limited options, and some items I wanted for my sister-in-law and her baby were sold out. However, the staff responded quickly and offered other recommendations.
In the end, I chose the Baby Muslin Gift Box with a few add-ons like chocolates, nuts, fruit spread, soy candles, honey, and felted soap. Despite the changes, I paid below $200 in total, which was a good deal.

Pros
- Best for international deliveries
- Offers free delivery nationwide
Cons
- Flower bouquet add-ons wilt quickly
- Some late deliveries
Sometimes when I feel like splurging a bit, I order myself a gift basket with flowers. One of the best shops that offer both is About Giving, and I love that they ship nationwide for free!
About Giving’s gift baskets are themed for occasions like Easter, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Christmas, making it easy to choose for loved ones.
If the themed baskets don’t suffice, you can add items like flowers or create your own. With a $99 budget, you get about 8 to 12 items.
The store ships internationally, mainly to Australia and the UK, with delivery taking 3 days to a week. Once, a gift basket I ordered in Auckland arrived late and the added flowers were wilted.

Pros
- Best for bath and body goodies
- Specialises in plants, flowers, and terrariums
Cons
- Orders for terrarium gift boxes are only available for Auckland deliveries
- Limited range of gift basket options
Terrariums and dried flowers from Vidabela are unique gifts that don’t wilt and are easy to transport. I ordered a gift basket with dried flowers and a small terrarium for my mother, who loves gardening, especially flowers.
I built my own gift basket because the ready-made ones on the website mostly contained bath products and chocolate, which I found lacking in variety.
While searching on their website, I found so many other add-ons like cocktail infusers, hot chocolate mixers, bath bombs, baby teethers, plush toys, car diffusers, ceramics, and mini-home decor.
I splurged a bit and bought one of almost every item, including a terrarium and a bouquet of dried flowers. If you order a terrarium, they can only ship the gift basket within Auckland, by the way (which was fine, since my mother lives in the city!).
