How We Chose The Best Recording Studios in Auckland
1. Wilde Records Recording Studio
My team and I recently checked out Wilde Records, and we were honestly impressed. The setup is super modern, with top-notch gear and a soundproof booth that makes every sound crisp and clean.
Jesse Wilde, the mastermind behind the place, is both an audio engineer and a musician, so he really understands what artists are after. We got to watch a session in action while we were there, and Jesse was on it, making sure everything ran smoothly.
The artist was recording some rap tracks, and Jesse was there every step of the way, giving tips and keeping things on track.
What really stood out for us was how personal and hands-on the experience felt. Jesse brings a personal touch to each project, and it makes a difference.
The studio also hosts events and sessions for musicians to connect. We think this gives the place a really welcoming, community vibe.
The only downside we noticed is the pricing—it’s a bit on the higher side, especially for beginner or independent artists. But overall, the experience and vibe are totally worth it.
My songs sound perfect
“Great recording studio in Auckland with a cool price. Managed to complete 5 rap songs in 3 hours (August) for my potential album with my own rap beats that sounded like mid-90s G-Funk rap. Jesse helped record and send my material so I could finish the final mix and it sounds perfect. Can’t wait to create more music and share my music with the world. Thanks, Jesse.”

I was very well received here at Wilde
“I was very well received here at Wilde, by Jesse. I made my first voice recording and I really liked it. I felt the desire to be able to perform a vocal performance and the treatment given to the recording was mandatory for the final result. In other words, much more was delivered than expected. Thank you very much!”

2. Roundhead Studios
Roundhead Studios has this amazing vibe that makes it feel more like home than your typical tech-heavy studio. This is a huge plus for musicians trying to get into the groove.
During our visit, we saw the engineers and producers in action. They excelled at capturing the energy of live performances while guiding artists throughout the recording process.
We were also impressed by their two main recording spaces. Studio A stands out with its awesome acoustics, spacious layout, and top-notch gear. Those big windows let in tons of natural light, and you can customize the setup to fit your needs.
Then there’s the Brick Room, which has this club-like atmosphere perfect for smaller sessions or live performances. It’s a great space for songwriting and experimentation.
We also really love the kitchen and dining area—it’s the perfect spot to chill out and let ideas flow without feeling boxed in.
However, we did hear from some clients that booking the studio and checking availability can be a bit of a challenge. It’s something they might want to smooth out for a better experience overall.
The setup and gear are state-of-the-art quality
“We did a day of recording in Studio A, the setup and gear are State-of-the-art quality and the place has gorgeous vibes! However, the people are even more top-notch than that: Matt & Alex did a stellar job setting everything up and guiding us when it was needed. What an experience, thanks again, guys.”

3. The Lab Recording Studio
During our visit to The Lab Recording Studio, we really felt the creative energy, making it an inspiring place for artists.
Located in the basement of the historic Crystal Palace Theatre, it has a rich musical history dating back to its days as a rock ‘n’ roll dance hall in the 1950s and 60s.
They have high-end compressors, preamps, and effects units that give you plenty of options for recording across different genres. We even got to try their unique choices of microphones that can help take your sound to the next level.
However, some former clients we spoke with mentioned that some of the vintage gears aren’t as well-maintained as they expected.
On the bright side, there’s a spacious living room and an isolation booth. A full drum kit might comfortably fit in it, but you should also keep in mind that there are a lot of stairs in the building.
We also loved how the main area was designed with acoustics in mind. It features original hardwood flooring that helps keep everything balanced and minimizes any unwanted reverb.
Had a good experience here
“Had a good experience here. Ollie was very easy to deal with. We were only recording a demo, but he recorded and did a quick mix very fast and it sounds great. The only thing to be aware of, if you have big heavy gear you want to use, there are stairs. Many stairs”

4. Parachute Studios
Parachute Studios brings together a vibrant community spirit with top-notch facilities. When we heard about their genuine commitment to supporting artists, we just had to check it out.
The studio is usually booked solid. However, former clients rave about how grateful they are for the affordable rates, especially local musicians trying to make their mark.
We also loved this cool development program that they have for young artists. We even got to meet some of them during our visit. They handpicked these musicians and offered mentorship to help them carve out their careers in the music biz.
And let’s talk about the space! The main studio, Studio A, is massive and comes loaded with some seriously impressive gear.
We’re talking about a Pro Tools HDX system, an API 1608 console, and a treasure trove of instruments and vintage equipment. It’s super versatile, making it perfect for everything from full-band sessions to live recordings.
What a welcoming atmosphere
“Parachute studios, what a welcoming atmosphere providing a music Hub to many in the Auckland young musical scene. Fully equipped recording studios and inspired music production and artist development incubators”

5. Crescendo Studio
When we swung by Crescendo Studio, we caught a glimpse of a client recording a podcast. It’s awesome to see how they cater not just to musicians but also to anyone looking to create top-notch audio content.
The producers and engineers were super friendly and always ready to help during the recording session, which improved the atmosphere.
However, we did hear from some former clients that they weren’t completely satisfied with the sound quality. They mentioned that the podcast production wasn’t as clear as they had hoped.
On the bright side, we found them super inspiring when it comes to empowering youth. All the profits from their recording services go straight into mentoring programs for young people.
Plus, programs like Te Urunga let aspiring artists explore various parts of the music biz. This includes songwriting and event management, all under the guidance of experienced pros.
Fantastic setup, and very friendly staff
“Fantastic setup, and very friendly staff! We record our podcast, Biz Bytes, from the studios and we cannot fault the service at all. Highly recommend working with the team at Crescendo if you need any help with recording!”
