The food was wonderful with large portions and delicious taste
“We had a wonderful time here the staff were wonderful and even willing to take photos for my In law’s, provide hot water and extra bowls for us to share. The food was wonderful with large portions and delicious taste. The food arrived very quickly and all together. I can’t think of any complaints”
Divine dining experience
“Just divine dining experience from meet and greet to help with the ordering (qrcode drive menu ordering available) and amazingly friendly team! Food served on time, great portion sizes; beautifully presented and yummy. Chicken was kind of slow cooked lemon grass flavour, the beef papaya salad something to die for. Everything about Vietflames, the vibe, the ambience, the food, the people, the over all experience truly a 5Star!”
2. Le Vietnamese Kitchen
What really makes Le Vietnamese Kitchen pop is how they mix traditional Vietnamese cooking with a French twist, all thanks to chef David Cao.
I decided to try their beef pho and it was bursting with flavor! The beef was tender and juicy, with a good balance between fatty and lean cuts. You can really tell they use fresh, locally sourced ingredients, which just makes everything taste that much better.
My fellow researchers ordered some unique dishes, like Kaffir Lime Chicken and Mekong Chicken Curry—definitely not your run-of-the-mill options.
The atmosphere is designed to feel like an upscale street food spot in Vietnam, which adds a fun, lively vibe to the meal. The staff were super friendly and attentive, especially when we asked them to snap a pic of us.
However, we were just a little disappointed on our visit. Even though the place was only half full, my friends and I were squeezed into a cramped spot.
Will definitely return with empty stomachs again to try more
“Absolutely delicious food. Went for a special occasion and decided to get anything we liked the sound of and it paid off. Got to try some absolutely incredible food that I have never experienced before from the well-seasoned crispy half duck to the lightly fried squid and the amazing ribs. Will definitely return with empty stomachs again to try more.”

We enjoy all items ordered
“We enjoy all items ordered, the were served quickly, full of flavor, and spring rolls were crisp and cold and our hot dishes were piping hot. There seemed to be as many locals as us tourist and that to me is alway a good sign.”

3. Sen Vietnamese Kitchen & Bar
We recently swung by Sen Vietnamese Kitchen & Bar and it felt like stepping into a cozy little corner of Northern Vietnam!
The atmosphere is super inviting—just the kind of place you want to hit up with friends or even just chill by yourself. As soon as we walked in, the amazing aromas from the kitchen hit us, and the staff were quick to guide us to the best seats.
Everything at Sen is super fresh. Their vibrant herbs and crisp veggies make the dishes pop. You can’t go wrong with their generous use of lemongrass, Vietnamese mint, and fish sauce. It’s not just delicious; it’s also great for anyone who needs to watch out for gluten or dairy
Now, let’s talk about the real star of the show: the Bún Chả. The grilled pork, marinated and cooked over charcoal, had this incredible smoky flavor that one of our friends couldn’t stop raving about.
It’s served with soft vermicelli rice noodles, though she did mention wishing the noodles were a bit warmer—something a few other customers we spoke to also noted.
Flavours were delicious and authentic
“Loved it!! Flavours were delicious and authentic. Everything tasted so good! Really enjoyed the beef pho, spring rolls, beef cheek curry and passionfruit prawns. The staff were lovely and great service. The ambience was nice but on the darker side, the only downside was the tables weren’t quite designed for larger groups as they put together two round tables for our group of 7 so it was a bit awkward.”

We were warmly welcomed & seated
“We visited this place for dinner, we were warmly welcomed & seated. The ambiance of the place is a vibe. Makes it perfect for a celebration! The service was quick. Kevin was just amazing! Food is so fresh & delicious. We tried the tofu summer rolls, they were so refreshing. The tofu bao was great. You definitely have to try the Lotus Stem Salad with prawns, it was so crunchy and the dressing is just beautiful! 10/10 The fried calamari & the seasoning on them was soooo good. In the mains we tried the Salmon green curry & Tofu stir fry. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the curry had umami flavours. Everything was just perfect! Definitely going here again! Highly recommended!”

4. Vie Coffee and Vietnamese Street Food
If you’re in the mood for some Vietnamese food that focuses on Hue cuisine, you’ve got to check out Vie!
I loved how they stick to traditional recipes and ingredients that really capture the essence of central Vietnam. It felt super authentic and was such a refreshing change from the usual spots.
Their menu has some fun twists, too! I tried their Banh Xeo, and found it cool that they serve it as canapés. It keeps all the classic flavors while giving it a modern twist.
Instead of the average pancake, these are crispy and thin—kind of like a fried tortilla—and they really sizzle when they hit the skillet.
We also really loved their coffee menu. They’ve got some seriously unique drinks, like egg coffee and coconut coffee, which added a fun twist to the whole experience.
Just a heads-up, though: I did feel like their prices are a bit on the higher side compared to other Vietnamese spots around town, especially since it’s casual street food.
I’ve visited several times, and I always feel quite happy with the experience
“This is probably the best Bun Bo Hue I’ve tasted so far in Auckland since Viet Kitchen on Dominion Road shut down. I’ve visited several times, and I always feel quite happy with the experience. The broth is rich, and it comes with plenty of herbs and meat. You can also add a side of vegetables, which even further complements the dish nicely.”

This Vietnamese street-style restaurant is pretty authentic
“It is our first time here at Viecafe. It is a Vietnamese street-style restaurant and they are pretty authentic. The platter is a must, the spring rolls are the best as well as the grilled chicken and pork. We also ordered a grilled pork on rice, and definitely tasted the char grill on their pork. Prices are around $14-20 mostly.”

5. An An Vietnamese Restaurant
We assigned one of our researchers to have an undercover visit at An An and now, he can’t stop raving about it. He even said it’s the perfect spot for his upcoming birthday celebration!
He had a little mishap when he accidentally spilled some water, but instead of getting annoyed, the server just laughed it off and brought him a fresh drink with a big smile. That kind of service makes a huge difference.
The menu is packed with a fantastic mix of dishes, and he couldn’t resist trying their pho. He described the broth as rich and aromatic, with the perfect balance of flavors from spices like star anise and cinnamon.
Oh, and he discovered something really unique on the menu called “Dalat Pizza.” It’s made with grilled rice paper topped with eggs, ground pork, and fried shallots.
Even though he loved everything, he mentioned that he might have to save up a bit before going back since it’s a tad on the pricey side.
We definitely recommend dining here
“We ordered Pho Bo Tai Chin/Beef Noodle Soup Medium ($20) and Bun Cha Nem Ha Noi/Northern Vietnam Specialty ($25) and it was seriously so AMAZING. We are vietnamese ourselves and the flavors are so authentic and rich. Both of the dishes we had are musttrys! The service is so good here. They offered us a whole teapot of jasmin tea for free, because their heater is broken. We definitely recommend dining here and will for sure do that again as well. Guys, don’t miss out on this one!!”

6. Banh Mi Delight
So, my team and I went undercover at Banh Mi Delight, and it was such a good time! The staff were super friendly and chatted with us about their favorite menu items while we were trying to decide what to order. It felt so genuine—like they really wanted us to have a great experience.
Eventually, we settled on their grilled pork banh mi, and it did not disappoint! The tender pork paired perfectly with the pickled veggies and fresh herbs.
We also loved that they offer a vegan option, like the tofu banh mi. One of our teammates, who’s vegan, was glowing because the savory stir-fried tofu and crisp veggies made them feel right at home while the rest of us munched on our pork.
The staff even suggested some fusion flavors, like the teriyaki chicken banh mi. But honestly, we were so stuffed from our delicious meal that we decided to save that one for our next visit.
Still, some diners we chatted with mentioned that not all the flavor combos hit the mark, especially in the fusion dishes. For instance, there was a lemongrass beef vermicelli bowl that didn’t quite come together for them.
The owner is very friendly
“We always come here for their chicken banh mi and iced coffee combo. Pate is generous and I love the pickled veggies. The owner is so friendly too. It’s always nice supporting a family business.”

The owner is lovely, service is quick and food tastes amazing
“Been here a few times since they moved to avondale and so satisfied with the quality all round The owner is lovely, service is quick and food tastes amazing.. My go to dish is the Pho Noodle Soup but the chicken salad & spring rolls (both fresh or fried) hit the spot too.. whatever you try it’ll have a great variety of flavours, always be fresh & delicious, filling but not heavy and a true delight as the name implies!
