A few months ago I found myself pacing the hallway at home, phone in hand, refreshing a tracking app for a parcel that was supposed to be delivered by noon. Noon came and went, then the afternoon, and by evening the tracking status had changed to “delivered.”

But my front step was empty—no parcel, no delivery card, and my inbox was just as bare after sending off a series of increasingly frantic emails. I was frustrated and vowed never to use that courier company again.

Unfortunately, I know I’m not alone. Across Auckland, stories of missed deliveries, poor communication, and lacklustre customer service are all too common.

If you’re sick and tired of the uncertainty and want to avoid all the delivery headaches, I’ve done the research and found the best courier companies in Auckland.

1. InaRush

What I like most about InARush is their “Super Urgent” option—if you’re in a bind, they’ll collect and deliver your parcel within 90 minutes, even on weekends and public holidays. 

This flexibility is a lifesaver, especially if you work odd hours or need something delivered outside the usual nine-to-five.

Customers I spoke to mentioned how reassuring it was to have their parcels delivered after hours and how it’s the only service they trust for urgent, late-night deliveries.

Booking is refreshingly straightforward: you just log in, select your delivery service, and get an instant, upfront quote before you commit. There are no hidden costs or confusing surcharges either.

I also appreciate their live tracking feature—you can follow your parcel from pick-up to delivery, so there’s no more guessing or hunting around for your package.

The only downside I found is that for oversized or out-of-town deliveries, you need to email for a quote, which adds a step. Still, for Aucklanders needing speed and transparency, InARush delivers exactly what it promises.

On the downside, I found that pricing can be a bit higher for express services compared to mainstream couriers. However, the personalised support and reliability more than make up for it.

Their extensive fleet, including chilled trucks and vans, means they can handle everything from urgent documents to temperature-sensitive goods, and customers often mention how fresh their deliveries arrive.

Their Shopify integration is another clever touch, unlocking lightning-fast delivery for online retailers and making life much easier for small Kiwi businesses.

If there’s a downside, it’s that communication between departments can occasionally lag, but this is rare and far outweighed by the consistent reliability and friendly service.

I love that Jet Couriers has a very clear-tiered service: the general option is cost-effective for regular deliveries with a four-hour ETA, while their express service halves that time for more urgent needs.

I appreciate that their direct service ensures your item is picked up by the next available vehicle and delivered straight to its destination, no detours. This level of responsiveness is a real advantage, especially when deadlines are tight. 

Their hourly hire option is also awesome. They offer vehicles from 1 to 12 tonnes for exclusive use—ideal for bulk deliveries or when you need a dedicated courier.

When I talked to customers, many raved about the professionalism and efficiency of Jet’s drivers. They appreciate that their courier drivers are always prepared and available when they need them. 

However, some reported minor damages on the outer packaging of the parcels. It doesn’t bother me personally—as long as the contents are intact—but I can see how it might be a concern for those who value pristine presentation.

The process is streamlined, and you don’t even need to leave your premises to send a parcel, which is a real time-saver. Their support team is also frequently praised for being helpful and responsive.

However, some did mention a slight lag in communication when it came to returning packages.
