Pros
- Offers same-day delivery in Christchurch
- Specialises in luxury gift baskets
Cons
- Pricey delivery fees for overnight deliveries
- Long turnaround time for orders to rural areas
Crowe and Co Gifts was my former company’s primary vendor for thank-you gift baskets and Christmas hampers. I received one every holiday season, and a special luxury basket when I worked my last day with them.
I enjoyed every gift basket I received from the shop, which consisted mainly of bottles of champagne, gourmet chocolates, dried fruit, nuts, artisanal teas, and bath products.
By the looks of the packaging and contents, you can already tell that the basket isn’t the cheapest in the market. I still think it’s worth every penny, though, if you want to send someone a gift to impress!
The store operates completely online, and deliveries are dispatched on the same day for Christchurch addresses. North Island and rural areas, on the other hand, can take up to a week for orders to get delivered.

Pros
- Wide range of gift basket options
- Delivers gift baskets worldwide
Cons
- Usually sold out
- Pricey delivery fees
I’ve ordered gift baskets many times, and I found that Citywide Florist is one of the best in terms of international deliveries. When my cousin graduated in Australia, I couldn’t be there, so I sent her a floral gift basket.
Although I was unsure how the flowers would stay fresh when shipped outside New Zealand, I trusted their fast, efficient shipping and was willing to pay a hefty delivery fee to ensure my order arrived at my cousin’s doorstep in perfect condition.
I initially wanted to get my cousin the Wild Treats Gift Box, but it was sold out. Instead, I chose the Flower and Gourmet Gift Box for $170. It included flowers, nuts, creams, cheese, jelly, crackers, shortbread, and cookies—everything my cousin loves.
The basket arrived after three days (impressive) and all the contents were in good shape. Safe to say, my cousin was super happy!

Pros
- Specialises in custom gift baskets
- Wide variety of gift add-ons
Cons
- Some misplaced or late deliveries
- Pricey
XO Gifts is another online-only gift basket store that specialises in custom gift baskets for corporate events and special occasions. I’ve ordered a couple of them for a few clients in the past, and I always trusted they’d deliver the baskets efficiently.
Though they offer ready-made gift baskets online, I prefer to build my own for the unique goodies. I always include a coffee cup set, spreads, cheeses, chutneys, whiskey, chocolates, books, and bath products for my clients.
I typically spend nearly $200 on my orders, but each item’s value justifies the price. Plus, you can set a budget and select add-ons when building your basket.
My only complaint about ordering from XO Gifts is that they have misplaced my orders in the past, even if I confirmed my orders weeks in advance. I understand that they don’t have full control over the delivery process, but it would be nice to get a heads-up!

Pros
- Offers free shipping for gift baskets above $180
- Best for sustainable/eco-friendly gift baskets
Cons
- Pricey
- Long turnaround time for South Island and rural area deliveries
Little Koha is my go-to for eco-friendly gift baskets in Christchurch. They ship gift baskets all over New Zealand, and partner with local brands that share the same passion for promoting environmentally friendly products and goods.
I personally love building my own eco-friendly gift basket from Little Koha, but I also highly recommend their pre-set boxes that come with all sorts of organic bath and body products like soap bars, knitted washcloths, beeswax, and exfoliants.
They also sell edible add-ons like chocolate, cookies, and fruit, as well as provide the option to add alcoholic beverages like beer, wine, and champagne.
A gift basket ranges between $120 and $180 each. They’re not the cheapest I’ve found, especially since the contents are relatively limited compared to other basket brands in the same price point, but Little Koha offers free delivery for baskets about $180 in value.

Pros
- Offers free deliveries on some gift baskets
- Wide range of affordable gift baskets
Cons
- Usually sold out
- Affordable gift baskets have very limited contents
One of the most affordable gift baskets I’ve ordered was from Beautiful Gifts. It was the Chocoholic basket that came with bonbons, fudge, a brownie, cocoa powder, and a chocolate bar.
I ordered one for myself as a treat and only paid $36 for it. There wasn’t much, unfortunately, but I found the price to be reasonable considering I was only ordering it for myself.
For a gift from Beautiful Gifts, I’d choose their DIY basket option. The packaging costs $14, and you can pick items online, priced from $3 to over $50 each.
However, much of their online inventory is often sold out, which is inconvenient for those on a tight schedule.
Nonetheless, they do offer free delivery nationwide for some baskets under $50. I recommend this shop if you’re looking for more budget-friendly options or baskets for yourself.
