Back in my college days, I thought I was up for anything. But nothing quite prepared me for the day my then-partner suggested that I try waxing. The first strip came off with a loud noise, and I’m fairly certain my cries echoed down the hallway. 

By the time it was done, I looked less like a Greek statue and more like a plucked chicken, with random patches of hair and a burning desire for aloe vera. That experience taught me that waxing can be horrible. 

Years later, with my dignity (mostly) restored, I decided to find out if Hamilton had any salons that could deliver a smooth, professional, and—dare I say—pleasant waxing experience for all. 

So, read on to spare yourself the rookie mistakes and find your new go-to spot.

1. Unique Skin and Body

One thing I really appreciate about Unique Skin is how they welcome new clients—they give you a $25 gift voucher to use towards your first full-priced treatment. It’s such a nice touch and honestly made me feel valued right from the start.

They cater to both women and men for waxing. I also like that they offer both hot and warm wax depending on your skin type and what you’re comfortable with. 

The therapists are really flexible and always happy to tailor the service to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible and get the best results. 

Booking is super easy too. I love that they send a confirmation text 72 hours before your appointment—it’s a small thing, but so helpful if you’re juggling a busy schedule. 

Their team is always friendly and happy to help if you need to reschedule too, as long as you give them enough notice.

Just a heads up, though: their cancellation policy is pretty strict. If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, you’ll be charged half the service fee.

2. Beauty Matters

Beauty Matters is one of those places that keeps people coming back, and it’s easy to see why. The atmosphere is genuinely welcoming, the therapists are super skilled, and there’s a loyalty programme that actually feels rewarding. 

I love that you automatically earn points for every dollar you spend—no need to keep track of a card or anything, since it’s all handled in their system. 

Their waxing menu is really extensive too, with options for both women and men—everything from Brazilians and bikini waxes to chest and full leg waxing. 

Clients I talked to also praised the therapists for being so reassuring and explaining everything. I like how they cater to your concerns because it makes a difference, especially when you’re new to waxing.

As for booking, I appreciate that they have a 24-hour answer phone for cancellations and rescheduling. There’s even a cancellation list for last-minute openings, which is super handy if you’re hoping to squeeze in a quick appointment. 

On the flip side, if you miss your appointment or don’t give at least 24 hours’ notice, you will have to pay the full amount.

3. Stone Hair and Beauty Salon

Stone Hair and Beauty Salon is a go-to spot if you’re after affordable, no-fuss waxing. They offer a ton of options—everything from a quick eyebrow or lip wax to full body waxing. 

Honestly, their prices are hard to beat. I was able to get the sides of my face waxed for just $20. 

The vibe here is friendly and efficient too. The staff are very approachable and genuinely try to make everyone, both waxing newbies and seasoned pros, comfortable and at ease.

Clients also like that the salon rewards loyalty. Follow-up Brazilians are discounted if you keep coming back. 

I also like the flexibility. You can mix and match services—so if you want to add a stomach or back wax to your appointment, it’s no problem.

That said, Stone Hair and Beauty has a pretty strict no-refunds policy. Some people find it a bit rigid; if you’re not happy with a service, there aren’t many options for recourse.

4. Shine Magic Touch

Shine Magic Touch prices are super clear and competitive—eyebrow waxing starts at just $12, and you can even get a full body wax for $149. 

Those who booked a full body wax with them were really impressed with how thorough they were. It saved them so much time compared to booking separate appointments. 

That convenience is a huge plus, especially if you’re getting ready for a big event.

Across the board, their waxing is fast, affordable and delivers consistently fantastic results.

First-timers who had their legs waxed here before said the results lasted for weeks. Others mentioned how quick the technicians are, making it easy to pop in for a combo wax in between schedules and not break the bank.

The only downside? Shine Magic Touch does not have a very spa-like, pampering atmosphere. But if you want good results at a great price, it’s perfect.

The Darling Room is pretty much Hamilton’s go-to for expert waxing—especially if you’re after a Brazilian or any kind of body waxing. 

One thing I really love is their use of both high-quality hot wax and strip wax, depending on your skin type and the area being treated. It’s a thoughtful little detail that makes a big difference.

I like how the salon has special waxing protocols to make every appointment as safe and comfortable as possible. I think this is really important for those new to waxing and are still nervous.

First-timers shared that the therapists explain everything and use a gentle hot wax to make the experience way less painful. 

I also appreciate the range—whether it’s underarms or chest, there’s something for everyone. I also like how they have combo packages, making it easier to save time and money.

Plus, there’s a 15% discount for teens under 16, which is great for younger clients just starting out.

The Darling Room’s prices, though, are a bit higher than some other places in town I’ve been to.
