Explaining the Cost of Handyman Services

Explaining the Cost of Handyman Services

As mentioned earlier, handymen take on many different jobs with varying degrees of difficulty and equipment needs.  So, to make price estimation simpler, we’ve elected to separate jobs into three segments: small, medium, and large.

Small Jobs

Small jobs can often be completed within 2 hours of your handyman arriving at the job site and addressing your concerns.  These types of jobs also do not require the use of power tools with most small jobs needing nothing more than a hammer and nails, a ladder, or some epoxy.

Some common examples of these jobs include hanging shelves, cleaning gutters, installing appliances, or replacing fixtures.  The determining factors to keep in mind when estimating costs would be complexity, and completion time.

From what we can gather, the cost of most small handyman jobs is usually between $75 to $150 depending on your handyman’s hourly rate.

Medium Jobs

As you may have guessed, medium jobs are a bit more complex and will usually take several hours to complete.  In addition to taking longer, these types of jobs also require the use of power tools.

These tools can include power drills, pressure washers, handheld saws, sprayers, or even belt sanders.  Naturally, the exact tools used by your handyman will depend largely on your specific needs and the job at hand.

Most medium jobs consist of landscaping, drywall repair, and in some cases, heavy installations.  You can expect to pay between $150 and $300 for these types of jobs.

Large Jobs

Large jobs will require the most effort and can sometimes take several days to complete depending on the sheer volume of work required.  Not all large jobs take place over a large work area as some can simply require long periods of work.

Some examples of this include redoing a section of carpet or clearing and repainting a wall.  Aside from removing existing adhesive, debris, or paint, your handyman also needs to prep the area and apply new material.

These jobs will cost you between $300 and $1,000 for particularly troublesome tasks.  It’s worth noting that the cost of a job can rise even more if you need to purchase materials before you call in a handyman.

Now that we’ve gone over the cost of handyman services, we sincerely hope you’ll have an easier time budgeting for your next repair job or home project.  If you intend to seek out other home services, we’d recommend bookmarking this article so you’ll always have a reference.
